A good start to a weekend morning is when you know you can enjoy a relaxing and luxurious breakfast.

I made my way to Marmalade in Bangsar Village II.

In fact  I have been there a few times and love the place!

We ordered 2 sets of breakfast. A Hearty Brekkie @RM25, comes with a fresh orange juice and a choice of dark coffee/latte/cappuccino.

Hearty Brekkie @ RM25

It is quite a huge portion, comes with a choice of scrambled eggs/poached eggs/sunny side up, sauteed mushrooms, 2 sausages, baked beans, a piece of bread and beef bacon.

Yum yum! I love the sauteed mushrooms. This is the only breakfast set that comes with a hot drink AND a fresh orange juice.

Omelet @ RM19, comes with a fresh orange juice.

Underneath the scrambled egg, you can have 2 choices of fillings: I opted for beef bacon and mushrooms cause they are my favorite!

The portion is huge and it lasted me till dinner time :)

Believe it or not, ever since I started new job, I spent more meals at home now simply because I have no energy to go out at night anymore after a long day of work.

And, and also, I started to learn different recipes. Here is a dish that I personally like, and it is quite easy to make.

You need few slabs of pork belly, about 3 slabs for 5 or 6 pax.

Clean the pork belly, and marinate with 5-spice powder (五香粉), pepper, salt, and dark soy sauce.

Leave it aside for about 20 mins for the spices to sink into the pork belly.

On the other hand, you will need some cinnamon, star anise ( ba jiao), peeled garlic and lightly smashed, and the spice that looks like nails is known as 丁香 (ding xiang).

Anyone knows what is 丁香 in Chinese?

Now, heat up a wok of oil and dump the pork belly into the hot oil.

Caution! Stand further away to avoid the splashing of the oil.

Fry the pork belly until golden brown and you know it is done!

No no, this is not ready to be eaten yet. We need to stew it now.

Every year around this time, we will see many restaurants and shops launching their mooncake, and as the year goes by, the fancy designs never fail to surprise me.

Hotel Equitorial Kuala Lumpur too has a range of interesting mooncake, and the boxes too!

Thanks to feedmelah.com, I had the chance to step my foot in Golden Phoenix Chinese Restaurant – Hotel Equitorial Kuala Lumpur.

You see what I mean? Velvet mooncake box, I love the color combination and design! It is a twist of fashion and tradition.

I couldn’t stop caressing the velvety box.

And and, there is also a design which somewhat resemblances the Dim Sum basket. Love the luxurious feeling.

The variety of mooncakes is no joke , they have: German Black Forest @RM18.90, Pumpkin Taro @RM18.90, Charcoal-Bake Yam @RM18.90, Bamboo Hazelnut @RM18.90, Expresso Chestnut @RM18.90, Red Yeast Sweet Potato @RM17.90, and of course the traditional ones.

The traditional double-yolk moon cake.

The booth setup outside the restaurant for mooncakes. They too have low sugar ones, for the health concerned.

Appetizer: Ginseng Chicken Soup

After all the mooncakes sampling, it’s time to wash down the sweetness with the appetizer. True to the description, I went to the heaven after taking my first sip of the soup. I swear it is the best Ginseng Chicken Soup I have ever had! While the ginseng is very strong, it is not overwhelming to the point that it is bitter, and the sweetness from chicken just made it perfect.
