For those who are getting married, or planning to get married,  time to get moving to survey on the options you have!

I have had my wedding few months back, and it certainly did not take one or two months to happen for me. Planning is the key and it is the way to go.

Good planning can save you from unnecessary expenses and time.

On days when I am feeling hardworking and inspired, I cook! And right now, I am having some post 1/4-life crisis, so I took 2 days off to recompose myself.  Unfortunately, still not so feeling recomposed.

Crisis aside, after so long, I felt inspired again after reading this recipe on eatingpleasure.blogspot.com. I tell you, she is great at inspiring people!

sweet and sour meatball with rice

My version of: Award-Winning Sweet & Sour Meat Balls.

Why award winning you may ask? It’s my first time cooking this, so I definitely deserve a medal as self-award right?

The presentation is not lip-smackingly good because I was starving!

Ok, to create this dish:

You need about 200g of minced meat for 2 pax, it can be pork, beef or chicken.

I bought a ready-packed mince meat from Tesco at about RM4.80.

marinated minced meat

For more springy and sweetness, I added prawn meat. For cruch,  minced about 3 shallots depending on the size, and some corn flour. I used wheat flour here because I ran out of it.

For marination, I added about 2 spoons of red wine, sesame oil, light soy sauce, and pepper, and a little pinch of salt.

The best part about DIY is, you can almost add anything you like! You can even have minced carrot or sengkuang in your meatballs. Leave it alone for about 20-30 mins.

roll minced meat into balls

After that, I rolled the minced meat into balls of 8.

It is advisable not to make a TOO big ball because it will be hard to pan-fry it.

Now, heat up some oil in the pan and place the meatballs slowly onto the pan with your hand so the shapes maintained.

Use only medium heat.

And, step back! The oil may be sparkling all over out of the pan and you definitely will not want to be scalded.

After checking in to BKR Hotel, we started our tour on foot my exploring the Legian street nearby.

It was about 5 min walk from the hotel to reach the start of the street. But under the hot sun, 5 mins certainly feels like 5 hour of walking!

As late as 3pm+, it is hard to find place for lunch because some of the restaurants are closed for noon break, while some don’t look so inviting without the lights.

Restaurant Goes Art

We were really tired and decided just to walk in to ANY restaurant that looked decent.

Goes Art Bar & Restaurant has a cute signboard and unique name.

It is a quiet late noon and we were the only patrons.

We ordered a glass of fruity ice-blended to quench the thirst. It was almost heavenly!

And only cost Rp15,000. (~RM5)

And I ordered a plate of Mee Goreng Rp 25,000 (~RM8+).

I think these noodles are common in Bali. It almost tasted like instant noodles, but these are served everywhere including the buffets.

Nasi Goreng Rp30,000 (~RM10).

It took ages for the food to arrive! I guess that’s because they have to prepare the satay and the deco on the plate. The satays were fresh and juicy!

Feeling not so satisfied, we decided to linger on the street till dinner time!

Goes Art Bar & Restaurant is located at: JL Legian 134.

legian street

It’s a long street and it was the time for some big festive with prayers going on in Bali, especially in the Kuta town.

prayers deco

We could see all the prayers decoration hanging along the street.

And oh, we had foot massage, which only cost RM15/hour. Fabulous!

We did some research on the net, and with the guide of GPS, we reached this restaurant named Ketupat.

Restaurant Ketupat

Sun sets in Bali very early, it’s only 7pm and it was dark already!

Restaurant Ketupat pool view

We found ourselves a seat at the balcony of the restaurant overlooking the beautiful view of swimming pool.
