A short tour in Palace of Golden Horses and paper wrapped chicken @ Balakong

My father was here to attend a seminar in Palace of Golden Horses last week, I had the chance to tour the hotel and I also took my dad for a dinner in Balakong.
It was a quiet evening, I remember this place to be really crowded.
But the boss said the business has been slow lately compared to years ago. I guess people eat out less now on a weekday?
The star of the day: paper wrapped chicken.
Ahh! The sexy, and juicy drumstick!
Was still good, I almost swallowed the paper as well!
Sweet and sour pork ribs. Crispy and tangy.
Sliced onion fried fish is always my favorite. But unfortunately, the slices are always too little, only loaded with spring onions.
And fried dumpling!
We didn’t order any yong tau fu. There were only 3 of us, so for all the food we ordered the smallest portion.
The bill came to about RM48, I don’t know the break down price of each dish as it wasn’t written.
Would I go back purposely for this?
No i guess, it’s far.
Restoran Leong Ya Indah No 26-28,
Jalan Dagang SB 4/1,
Taman Sg Besi Indah SK 4,
Balakong Sri Kembangan Selangor. (03-89415942)
Then then, we had a tour in Palace of Golden Horses!
The grand entrance. Horses are everywhere in this hotel!
The lobby looks very grand too! I guess it was really famous once upon a time?
But the location is really bad for tourists. No public transport to access the city.
Along the corridor.
And finally to the room!
Room was quite spacious for 2 persons.
The bed and the wardrobe.
I don’t know why I think the room looks old and creepy.
I would not dare to stay there alone.
Quite spacious nonetheless.
Love the bathroom! Surprisingly it is huge and clean. With mirrors everywhere.
You can do your business while others are soaking in the tub.
I am not sure about the room rate there though. Have you ever stayed there before?

People eat out less? Nuh!
If the business is slow, it must be either the quality has gone down, or the food is overpriced.
Did you lick the paper until clean?
Agree with you. The room look haunted. I guess it’s the furniture color.
That is the place that I had paper wrapped chicken when I used to go The Mines on weekends on my college days. Me and my friends sure stop at this shop for the paper wrapped chicken before taking the KTM back to college. Your pictures remind me of the good old days. The place is really crowded most of the time last time. I guess the time is bad now. People eat out less.
Creepy? Because of the old styled furniture? Hehe. The hotel is nice.
hmmmm, leong ya… i had a bad experience there. the wrapped chicken was too oily and the yong tofu were not good at all. way much different than the 10++ years ago. food quality was good then
KS: hmm i am not sure if the food quality has gone down, my first visit was like 5 years ago. i guess there are alot more new eateries too?
Che-Cheh: GOT! not a single ml of zhap is spared
CK: hahaha ok. did the chicken look any diff compared to (?) years ago?
ai wei: icic..but the chicken i had was ok, not too oily, didnt try yong tofu. but i saw another restaurant with the same name js few doors down the road. are they bros?
I like the paper wrapped chicken offered at this place!
eh! got ghost? where?
Leong Ya facing the main road is better in terms of taste. The rest inside run by the other siblings aren’t as good. I believe the one facing the main road still have the master chef there.
My sister stays at serdang. I went to have paper wrapped chicken before… Really nice~
Paper wrapped chic!
