Aldy Hotel and Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball in Malacca
Posted by sloppychic under Food , Life[13] Comments
On Xmas day, Malacca is REALLY packed, to the max. It took me 1.5 hours from Ayer Keroh toll to reach my hotel. =/
All the hotels were fully booked, we could only manage to get this Aldy Hotel in Stadhuys. It is right opposite the red house and fort, and right next to a police station. However, there is no parking provided, you have to find your own parking opposite the hotel. Parking coupons will be provided though.
Right opposite the hotel! Cool eh? And it is just 10 min walk to Jonker’s street and Pahlawan mall. The hotel is better than I expected, UP RM160++ per night, but we paid RM220++ for xmas.
The hotel room – not bad right? Neat and cozy.
Love the bathroom! Brand new tiles and tub. I am very anal about bathroom. I just can’t stand dirty washrooms!
After checking in at about 3pm. We walked to Jonker’s Street for lunch, thank god it was only about 10-min walking distance and it was a cloudy day.
As recommended by Jason Mumbles, we headed straight to this Hoe Kee Chicken Rice. It is the first shop on the Jonker’s, not hard to find at all. We had to Q for about 15 mins before our turn.
I can’t believe a chicken rice shop looks so nice, so ….traditional.
Chicken + rice balls for 2. By default, they gave 15 rice balls. We topped up another 5 and also ordered cabbage for 2.
We were so hungry we wiped our plates clean! The total bill came to about RM18 including drinks. Not expensive.
Price menu, if you are interested.
After lunch, we ventured the street a little, and had chendol as well.
will post in next!

Once I was the first patron there. Early morning. Hahahaha
Nice room.
Actually, you could have returned to Klang Valley on the same day, and save the hotel charges.
Che-Cheh: my stupid site was down 50% of day yesterday
KS: actually i balik kampung the next day
to johor. so mlk was on the way. hehe
Actually I prefer the other chicken ball rice place at the coffeeshop at the corner – Chung Wah Try that next time yeah?
Hmm… I prefer Chicken Rice Shop, wakakaka… no need to queue ler.
RM18 for chicken rice, not expensive? -___-lll
good choice wor…that hotel’s pretty strategic.. right in the middle of Malacca town. Haha. But we don’t really go for any of the two chicken rice shops actually. A bit commercialized. Haha… Why didn’t you tell us you were going to be in Malacca?? :p
Oh! we love this chicken rice shop, delicious, simple and comfortable!
Pink Parisian : oh yeah we passed by there too, and undecided. but we ended up in this hoe kee. will def pop there if i ever go melaka again
thanks!
Neo: hahaha but if during pub holiday or whatever big day, the shop is packed too!
Jason: + drinks + vegge we think rm18 is pretty ok
twosuperheroes: yeah love the location. anywhere else to rekomen for chicken rice?
the next time i go i will tell u yeah
Big Boys Oven: yeah that shop is spacious!
Hie, I’m new here! I don’t like chicken rice shop! Not tasty and yet expensive. Aldy hotel is really, really strategic! =) Looks like you have a ball of time. Anyway happy new year 2009!
You need to goto a Chicken rice ball just at corner of a bridge(small ugly shop – this is the original one). Others just copy cat.
