Finally, we are stepping into the week of Chinese New Year, and I can’t believe this is my first Yee Sang of the year

What’s the better way to welcome Chinese New Year with a bunch of favorite friends right?

If you are considering a pork-free CNY set but with budget in mind, this might be a good place!

Bangsar Venicia Restaurant is strangely located in Bangsar Puteri Condo, like a neighborhood restaurant, opposite Bangar Shopping Center.

The RM398 set dinner comprises of shark fin soup and prawns which we have swapped with roast duck and vegetables.

Yee Sang was alright, wish they had more salmon though

The 4-seasons platter came as a surprise as the portion was huge!

There was even a yam basket with about 10 pcs of big scallops! We were already half full when we had the first 2 dishes.

Hello roasted Donald!

The meat was juicy and tasted not too bad.

Herbal chicken was only mediocre as the herbal fragrance was not strong enough.

Asam Sek-Ban’s gravy was not bad though the fish was a little fishy.

Here comes the vegetable dish, love the crispy lotus root and macadamia nuts!

Claypot tofu.

And we had longan and sea-coconut drink as dessert to complete the meal.

Overall, I think this is an okay place as it is quite a quiet restaurant it will not cause u an arm or a leg. And apparently the hit dish is the Jiang Nan prawns but too bad few of us are allergic to seafood so if you do go, order it!

Hello CNY dishes!

Sea cucmber and seafood on a boat of dragon – RM150 onwards

See the beautiful carrot sculpture? It is amazing that how the chef could sculpt the dragon on a carrot! I usually struggle to even cut carrot into slices. If you have elderly in the family, I am sure they will love this!

Sea-cucumber contains zero cholesterol, even though it tastes like fatty pork.

Braised pork trotter with vegetables and lotus roots – RM28 onwards

Pork is not bad all the time, look at the companion of vegetables and lotus roots, it’s a healthy dish! I love lotus roots

Last but not least, lotus leaf rice with brown rice and salted egg yolk – RM50.Â

There is a salted egg yolk buried underneath the rice, nice! And the unique feature is, it is a mixture of brown and white rice. You hardly see brown rice elsewhere right?

If you have no idea where to go for CNY dinner with friends/family, try Mei ChiXuan!

p/s: It’s better to call for booking to avoid disappointment.

Chinese New Year is coming really soon, and I am so so looking forward to having my mom’s specialty – braised duckie again!
行運齊撈生

Salmon Yee Sang with Crispy Shredded Treasures in Plum Dressing

For a start, of course we need to lou sang to kick off the CNY mood! I love the colorful dish, although it practically tastes similar everywhere, the trick is to have sufficient plum sauce the jazz up the dish!

Shark’s Fin Soup with Crab Meat and Dried Scallop in Winter Melon

The winter melon was one of the highlights as it looks REALLY cute! And the soup is so sweet.

House of Tang Braised Pork Trotter

Everyone’s favorite of the night has to be this pork trotter. The meat was so tenderly soft, and with the gravy, the combination was perfect!

When we were presented with the prawns, all of us admired the presentation. Don’t you just have to love the carrot-crafted pagoda?

The assam fish was done just right, not too sour nor spicy. We polished the plate with white rice.

香草燒焗雞 Baked Chicken with Herbs and Coconut Black Chicken.

I love the baked chicken as it was still juicy when served. And…ahhhh black chicken boiled in coconut! There was this unique taste in the soup, it is sweet yet light with all the coconut essence! Highly recommended!

東坡肉 Braised Pork with Soya Sauce

Ahh! Did you see the glazy pork? And thank god the fat is layered! So, at least I could skipped the top part

Chinese New Year is around the corner again! I can’t believe it! I still remember seeing the sun eclipse last year, and it’s been a year already.

All collages are click-able for mega huge view.

I like how the culinary team in Prince Hotel always have creative ideas and surprise us. If you squint a bit (or click on the picture), you can see the deco of the plate in the top left corner prawn picture, it is food and art.

Master Chef Ricky is proud to showcase his dish!

Ying-Yang Yee Sang (Tuna and Salmon Roulade)

What’s Chinese New Year without the Yee Sang right? Did you see the rolls of salmon slices in picture?

Lou ah!!!Â

For health, wealth, and food!

Braised pearl shark fin’s with fish maw in supreme golden broth, Braised duck with dried fish maw and scallops

The soup was awesome, the broth was thick and very flavorful. I wish I had more

The braised duck was also one of the hit items of the night, we literally polished the plate!

My mom is a great cook too, and I think her braised duck can match this too. ^_^

The mega star of the night: Steamed cod fish with pickled radish and garlic in supreme soy sauce

I was so greedy I kept telling the guy who was serving to give me the biggest piece! The fish was thick and fresh, and the meat was so soft that it just melted in my mouth! Ahhh! Give me the fish and I will give you everything else.

Fried rice with seafood and baby abalone, Braised dried oysters with fatt choy, Mexican soy clams, sea cucumber and wok fried greens

Ah! Baby abalones with fried rice, how glamorous right?

All of us loved the dried oysters with the baby bak-choy. The gravy went superbly well together with the fried rice. Yum yum.

Last but not least, dessert!

Deep-fried batter-dipped prawns tossed with fresh lime dressing, Double-boiled hasma with red dates and glutinous rice dumplings

See the presentation of the prawns! Love how the dish is served and the prawns were fried just nice, juicy on the inside.

And lastly, a bowl of hasma as dessert to complete the meal. Hasma is great for skin, or so I heard. My mom used to boil it for us, but the thought of eating bird’s saliva somehow turns me off..oh well. Think about the great skin…

If you plan to eat out with your family, do consider Prince Hotel. They have 3 sets for you to select from:
