Jonker Dessert The Museum Cafe in Jonker’s Street and Capitol Satay Celup
Posted by sloppychic under Food , Life , Places[11] Comments
After checking in hotel and had our chicken rice ball lunch, we proceeded to touring along Jonker’s Street, yeah it was my first time there. I have been to Malacca quite a couple of times, but this is my first time at Jonker’s.
What’s Malacca without chendol? After walking the whole street, this is the second most-packed shop, and that’s how we decided where to eat.
The chendol banting right in front of the shop, it’s a self-service shop, cash and carry.
The regular baba chendol on the left and my baba durian chendol on the right. The chendol was alright but i wish there were more durian paste though.
The shop interior. Very classic, but if you look on top of the ceiling, it is quite ew. Dusty.
Although classic settings are fine for me, but they just don’t look too clean to me. Dust is my fear factor too.
They have an array of antiques along the staircase in the middle of the shop.
A black and white photo. Overall, it is a nice little place, it is something like Hoe Kee Chicken Rice shop, they have asam laksa and etc there too.

When we got back to the hotel for a bath, it was already 5+, and satay celup was our next destination. And..the crowd was HELL!!!
Check out the Q! It was drizzling and I couldn’t believe myself to Q here for an hour just to get inside!!!
When we were seated, it was already 8.30pm, and we got a seat in front of the food selection. It is RM0.70/stick.
Good thing is that they change the pot of peanut sauce for new table. And they will mix the crushed peanuts into the sauce for u.
After being mixed nicely. You can start boiling your food in it.
The shrimps were awesome! Cruchy and shell-less. Best for lazy people. We finished eating in about an hour’s time, and the crazy Q was still there.
I guess i prefer the normal lok-lok more, this peanut sauce is really heaty for me.
What’s the best satay chelup in Malacca?

I think before going to places like that with plenty of foods it’s better to take some self boil ‘tong sui’ or cooling tea first.
Referring to Molly’s comment…
No need tong sui. Coke is better.
BTW, where did you eat the satay celup?
molly: hahaha i immediately bought a 100+ after the meal
KS: the satay celup is in Lorong Bt Cina, about 1 or 2km away from the stadhuys
Wow got yau char kwai somemore! Cool.
Didn’t try satay celup when my last visit, go back KL b4 they start business~~
Oh..been waiting for your posts on Malacca! Haha.. well, again..we don’t really go for the capitol satay celup really.. but the cendol is good! You can get a really good one in Mahkota Parade’s food court too. :p
Che-Cheh: i lurvve the yau char kwai! esp after it is soaked with the satay sauce
mimid3vils: yeah most of them start their biz at 5 or 5.30
twosuperheroes: realllly? hehehe. anywhere else with good satay chelup? i have been to another one in ong kim wee, or something like that, also tasted not too diff to me

I wanted to try the chendol there the other day but the queue’s too long!!!
