Part 3: Exploring Myeong Dong and Myung Dong Hotel Biz Review
Posted by sloppychic under Places[15] Comments
After our final photoshoot, which was on the 2nd day, our tour with the bridal group was supposed to end already. But of course, all the way we went Korea, we decided to linger in Seoul for another 4 more days on our own.
The majority was leaving on the 3rd day already, so we were brought to a place that sells only Ginseng chicken for dinner.
Warm chicken soup for the hungry and cold stomach!
The rice was stuffed in the chicken, and oh boy it was good! It’s a shame that the taste of ginseng was not that strong, so I took it as the normal herbal chicken soup.
After the dinner, we had about an hour to tour Myeong Dong before heading back to the hotel.
Hello Kitty store.
The street was still busy as late as 10.20pm!
So many cosmetics and skincare shop, it’s a shopping heaven. T_T
Even their 7-11 (which Family Mart being the major chainstores there), sell quite a variety of nice food, including a air-tight ready to eat sausage. Yummy!
After checking out from the hotel we stayed for 2 nights, we found our way to the hotel we booked and paid online.
It’s quite a hidden place though, even taxi could not find it.
So, we decided to get down from the taxi and find our own way.
It’s very hidden among the small shop lots in the back alley.
Finally! Our Myung Dong Hotel Biz!
I must admit it looked quite dodgy from the outlook.
But look! Neat and clean bed, and everything is provided.
TV, computer with Internet, water dispenser, even hair gel and moisturizer!
And the toilet is well equipped too, except for the fact that the toilet bowl is not the high tech one.
I definitely have no complaints for the price that we paid for about RM200/night.
After putting our things down, time to roam Myeong Dong!
We had lunch in a hidden food court, I wonder why is it so hidden too.
Shared a YukGyeJang (Shredded spicy beef) for 5000 Won.
One thing great about Korea is, free water is provided in ALL restaurants. And no dodgy 10% + 5% tax!
After the lunch, we continued to roam around all the skincare shops, I had a really good time doing the window-shopping and eyeing on what to bring home.
Then, we saw the quite popular ice cream stall, everyone was holding the same ice cream on street despite the fact that it was cold and raining.
Only 1500 Won for such a tall ice cream! It was tasty of course.
And, I find eating ice cream in rain actually made me feel warmer.
After walking for several hours it was dinner time again. It was quite hard to decide what to eat as I wanted to eat everything.
And, street food stalls are aplenty in Myeong Dong!
What caught our attention was this sausage stall.
3000 Won for a stick of cocktail sausage and bak-kua with rice cake drizzled with mustard.
See the rice cake?
For dinner, clueless what’s nice and what’s not, we just popped into the shop with most crowd…
Which was this hot pan fried rice!
First, you order your food then you will be given all the ingredients. There are a few types of rice with meat on the menu and you can mix different rice to be fried.
The side dishes.
When your meat is almost cooked, throw in the rice and continue to pan-fry.
Nice and all golden and ready to be eaten!
It was piping hot and delicious!
After the dinner, we pretty much ended our day as our next destination was to Everland.
Stay tuned!

Wow the food looks awesome!
OMG I think we ate the same things!! I had the tall ice-cream, the sausage thingy and the fried rice! The fried rice was with meat right? It’s Dak-galbi, and I had it in Myeong dong too! *gasp* Later u check my post, I took picture of the shop, see if it’s the same one
Are you sure you saw a Hello Kitty store? AFAIK, Koreans, like Chinese, hate Japanese very much.
The hotel room is pretty small. I guess space is precious in Korea.
Wow, Samyetang….I love it very much….one of the good meal I had in Korea.
Ate lots of instant hot dogs as well. We were all shivering after finishing the long ice cream….still cold in spring. Looks like you had a good time there!
Yani: Let’s go Korean food!
