Review: Self Heating Hot Can – Hot Choc (Gets hot anytime, anywhere)
Posted by sloppychic under Food[14] Comments
Some days ago when I was shopping in Village grocer, there was something that caught my attention – Hot Can! As I had never seen it before, so I decided to part with my RM8++ to give it a shot.
Expensive, but <RM10 to fulfill my curiosity, why not?
Gets hot anytime, anywhere. Catchy tagline.
The side of the can contains instructions on how to use it. Sounds seriously fatal! And did you see the black label of indication? Originally they are black.
The bottom of the can has a warning sticker too.
The instruction: Push down 1.5cm on the sticker then gently shake the can.
You have to press REALLY hard to push it in.
Now, you see the labels have changed color? It is perfect to be opened!
WARNING!Â
NOW, CLEAR YOUR SPACE OR MOVE TO AN EMPTY SPACE TO OPEN THE CAN.
You see why? Due to the pressure in the can, it spilled!!!
And some of the hot choc landed on my notebook!! and phone!!!
Verdict? I kinda like the concept and the Hot Choc is tasty too! However, I am not sure if I will purchase this again as it is really expensive and hard to handle.
Then, I stripped the can naked.
It’s quite a sturdy can.
At the bottom?
Apparently, they use some water and the calcium oxide (white powder) to create heat!Â
Now, would you part with RM9 to try this out? I think it comes in few other flavors too.

It cost almost as much as drinking a cup of coffee in Starbucks, minus the wifi!
ahhh…looks interesting! can go try out d..:d
seen this b4.. now if they can make one that freeze the drink.. icy coke!
creative innovation. Definitely will bring one or 2 when go to cold places.
KS: LOL yeahhh i think money will be better spent on starbucks, but the idea is cooler!
taufulou: concept is good eh?
Calvin: perhaps u can start the business first!
ken: can bring it to Alps!
I got one sitting in my office for 6six months, so sayang lar to open lol!
nice or not?
better than 3 in 1 ?
hmm, i remember seeing this sometime ago but it didn’t get popular.. the idea is cool but i guess really have to handle with care as it involves chemicals and heat..
i’ll pay RM8 for a curiosity try though, haha..
Wow! that is awesome!
Will try to check it out in the stores around town…thanks for sharing it!
definitely for coffee addicts that need their hot gold anytime anywhere. Everyone will definitely buy it once to try it out just for the novelty of it including myself. lol
Hi!
Thanks for trying out Hot-Can! The most convenient way to get a hot drink, while on the move.We are glad that you liked it. We are sorry it spilled on your notebook, though this normally does not happen.
What do you think about the flavours? We have Hot-Mocha in the market now, along with Latte and Hot-Choco.
As for the reaction, the can uses calcium and water, which when react cause an exothermic reaction and the by product is chalk. Chalk, which is used to rebuild the reefs and balance the PH of the water. Other than that, it also uses aluminum, which is 100% recyclable. You can check out more info on the website
