Sometimes when I am hungry at night (sometimes only seriously), I would go for a treat for my stomach at this open area of Malay stalls behind pasar TTDI.

roti john stall

I particularly love the Roti John here. It is the only Roti John that I have eaten cooked in this way.

Usually, the Roti John is a burger bun mixed with some meat and cabbage.

bun

But at this stall, the place the minced meat on top of the bun then let it fry on the hot plate.

When it is flipped over, you can see the cooked meat, slightly burnt but soft!

roti john man

The young man concentrating on preparing the roti.

It was actually founded by an older man, but unfortunately he has passed on. I was glad that this young man has inherited his legacy, otherwise, I could not eat it anymore. I am not sure about their relationship though.

Roti John ready for you! I love the runny yolk, it makes the combination better! And it is only RM3.

Satay stall

There is also my favorite satay stall.

Satay man

The very very friendly boss.

Satay TTDI

My juicy satay. While I wouldn’t say this is the best satay I ever had, but it is still better than those some. If only he could improve the sauce, then it will be a perfect combination.

I love how the small community helps each other. They can take orders and even collect payment for all the stalls! Most of all, they are really friendly people.  I guess this is not a scene that can be seen in Chinese community.

This open area is located right behind Pasar Besar TTDI, opens from 6.30pm onwards. Closed on Sundays. It is actually a parking space during the day. They are also selling tomyam and nasi lemak.

While I don’t know the exact address for this place, but here is the map to help. If you can see the Pasar, you definitely can find the area.
